DB2 overview.Students can learn how to develop fast XML applications supported by a database that stores XML documents natively. DB2 version 9 is a hybrid data server that allows users to store both, relational and XML data. IBM is making this technology available for free using the DB2 Express-C edition.

The speaker will also describe a volunteer program specifically designed to students.

Getting to know this product is important for application developers using a Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) since it can improve performance in as much as 90%. Having this free edition of DB2, allows students incorporate the latest technologies in their application at no cost.
