Title:Data Science and Information Visualization(数据科学与信息可视化)
Speaker:Xia Lin
Date:15:00, December 14
Venue: Haiyun Admin. Building C505
Abstract:In this talk, I will start with a discussion of key features of Data Science as an active educational and research domain and how it relates to the grant information field. I will then present my own research projects on information visualization to illustrate some data science’s research questions such as how to apply data mining and machine learning to identify and extract semantic relationships from data, how to enable concept mapping to create knowledge graphs that support visual analytics and discovery, and how to apply cognitive computing to support visualization interfaces. These questions, along with others, are the major challenges that the next generation of information or computer scientists will face.
About the Speaker: Dr. Xia Lin is a tenured professor in the College of Computing and Informatics, Drexel University, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA.
