On December 4 to 6, 2015, the fifth national conference on computer programming courses of higher education institutions, hosted by the Ministry of Education's Steering Committee of Higher Education in computer majors, was held in Xiamen University. The meetings was aimed at strengthening the communication and exchanges between teachers from different colleges or universities, promoting the education and teaching reform as well as improving the quality of teaching in computer programming courses in colleges and universities. More than three hundred and sixty teachers from about one hundred domestic colleges and universities attended the meeting, which hit record highs.

Experts from Tsinghua University, National University of Defense Technology, Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Changchun University of Technology etc. gave various symposiums and shared their precious experience in teaching methods and practice on computer programming courses. Professor Yunqi Lei and Assistant Professor Ziyu Lin, from Department of Computer Science, Xiamen University, also shared the achievement the department had obtained on the teaching of big data, which won bursts of applause from the participants.

The success of the conference will definitely expand the influence of computer majors of Xiamen University in China, and furthermore, will have a positive impact on future exchange and cooperation between Xiamen University and other colleges and universities.
