Fujian Key Laboratory of Sensing and Computing for Smart Cities win The 12th Five-Year Plan China Smart City Innovative Application Award

June 1st, 2016, China Smart City Forum was held in Beijing. Xiamen Big Data Application and Analysis Platform for Traffic, co-constructed by Traffic Police Detachment of Xiamen Public Security Bureau, Xiamen Information Group Satellite Positioning Co., Ltd., and Fujian Key Laboratory of Sensing and Computing for Smart Cities (SCSC), got through the assessment of the experts team of the China Smart City Forum, won The 12th Five-Year Plan China Smart City Innovative Application Award.

 

With the steady and rapid development of economy and society of Xiamen City, the city's total motor vehicles grow rapidly. As of June 2015, the total motor vehicles amounted to 1,260,000 (830,000 small cars, 40,000 large cars), the number of motor vehicle driver has reached 1,220,000. As a result, the traffic congestion problem has become increasingly prominent, and real-time traffic analysis is getting more difficult. Xiamen Big Data Application and Analysis Platform for Traffic (Phase 1) is led by Xiamen Information Center and Traffic Police Detachment of Xiamen Public Security Bureau, Xiamen Information Group Satellite Positioning Co., Ltd. and SCSC provides technical support. SCSC undertakes DNN based short-term traffic flow prediction, and traffic accident big data analytics and visualization application. Professor Wang Cheng and post-doctor Fan Xiaoliang are project leaders.  Moreover, the preliminary achievements of the award-winning big data project, was deeply reported by Xiamen News and other media.

 

SCSC was approved by Fujian Provincial Department of Science and Technology 2015. Since its establishment, the laboratory has been centering on sensing and computing, and focusing on the country and Fujian Province’s major needs on the construction of smart city, to serve the local economic and social development. The award marks the SCSC has achieved initial success on smart traffic and big data analysis.
