On April 6th, there is full of people at Haiyun teaching building of lecture room 504. In order to celebrate 95th anniversary of Xiamen University, we invited an alumni named Xu Ju Yan graduated in 1953, who is a fellow of Chinese engineering academy and an expert of microelectronic. And his Nanqiang academic lecture "innovation of integrated circuit structure" commences. He brought a spectacular academic feast to all of students and teaching staffs. The lecture was hosted by the dean of information and science school. The assistant of college president also participated and awarded him a Nanqiang medal in the name of Xiamen University.

Fellow Xu recited an emotional and beautiful poem for the 95^th anniversary of his mother school before the lecture. He said, the word “Goodness” in our motto of Xiamen University “Fighting without stopping, only stopping at the goodness” is his expectation and lesson for all of students as an alumni of Xiamen University.

Fellow Xu Ju Yan elaborated “Makimura Wave” and characteristic loops of semiconductor products for everyone throughout the lecture of one and half hour. The picture of characteristic loops that Fellow Xu proposed is 20 years longer than time frame of “Makimura Wave” and two more fluctuations, but Mr. Makimura had not corrected it until around year 2001 in original wave that he published in 1991, which is 10 years later than Fellow Xu’s proposal. Then fellow Xu introduced working mode and the direction of innovation of SoCs searching engine. Integrated circuit has gained huge popularity and is in the rapid development. People should explore SoCs structure in terms of efficiency and flexibility and start from structure of hardware and software programming and push forward SoCs searching engine by updating industrial technologies under constraints of mostly power and costs. Students and teaching staffs respond Fellow Xu’s interesting speech with tremendous applauses.

Fellow Xu communicated with everyone enthusiastically after the lecture. Students and teachers are eager to ask questions, and Fellow Xu answered with patience and precision. Some students and teachers continued to communicate and explore deeply with Fellow Xu after the session of Q&A.

Xu Ju Yan is a fellow of Chinese engineering academy, an export of microelectronic and an alumni of the department of physics of year 1953. He participated and organized development of monolithic integrated circuit of the first Chinese silicon plane.
