Recent, the discipline of Cyberspace Security applied by Xiamen University is approved by the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China, and it is included in the list of new added undergraduate major of the Ministry of Education. Cyberspace Security is affiliated with the engineering, Code 08011TK, four-year education system.

Internet has profound effects on politics, economy, society and culture in recent years. The international competition with access to information, use of information and control of information has grown much fiercer. Along with the rapid development of economic sociality and information processes, the basic and comprehensive role of network information system is increasing. So far, cyberspace security has become a strategic plan relating to national security.

Chinese Ministry of Education and the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council approved Cyberspace Security as a first class discipline in June 2015, aiming at implementing national security strategies and accelerating fostering the high-level talents of cyberspace security. Xiamen University pays high attention this issue. The university appointed the School of Information Science and Technology as the head to declare the first class discipline Cyberspace Security. In July 2015，to achieve the innovation and development of the cooperation of school and enterprise, build nation-class discipline, and promote the win-win situation in technology and innovation, School of Information Science and Technology began a partnership with Xiamen Meiya Pico Information Co.,Ltd, which is one of the most potential and influential Chinese listed companies, to build the first class discipline Cyberspace Security.

The new establishing four-year undergraduate major Cyberspace Security mainly relies on the two first class disciplines of our school, Computer Science and Technology and Information and Communication Engineering (both first-class key subjects of Fujian province). Under the circumstance of the new establishing undergraduate major Cyberspace Security, aiming at the new challenge from cyberspace security and current higher national demand of talents, our school will research a training model for practical talents to meet demand of nation and society.
