Abstract：

Expert knowledge is more than domain knowledge because expert knowledge emerges from acontextualization process and expertise appears as “chunks of contextual knowledge”. The contextualization process relies on the integration of contextual elements with the knowledge in the reasoning. The situation is particularly critical in complex domains like medicine where the domain is known only partially, there is a large number of parameters, and where variability is more a rule than the exception.This talk presents a challenging approach for modeling of the human reasoning in domains so poorly formalized through two aspects. The first one is along the “hard” way, namely the contextualization of a workflow for quality management by introducing flexibility in workflows to face the variability of the domain.The second is the “soft” way for modeling the way in which experts in pathology work for adapting the complexity of the domain and the difficulty of the diagnosis.
