报告摘要:In this talk, the strong bandwidth demands from video and data center related applications and their impacts to the next generation optical communication systems are presented. The developments  of  various optical and electrical component  technologies for higher speed applications are addressed with their significant values and challenges for the next generation optical communications emphasized. To increase data throughputs, various micro optics as well as integrated optics based multi channel integrated solutions for high speed transceivers are discussed. At last, some concepts for 400G and 1000G optical transceivers are explained.

报告人简介: Dr. Jianyao Chen received his B.E. in electrical engineering from University of Science and Technology of China in 1982 and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from University of Montreal, Canada in 1997. During his Ph.D. research, he conducted extensive research on various high speed DFB semiconductor lasers. After that, he did his postdoctoral research at MIT. In 1998, he joined E-tek R&D, which was merged with JDS Uniphase later in 2000, to develop various active and passive fiber optics components and subsystems for DWDM optical communications applications. In 2004, he joined Opnext, Inc to lead optical engineering developments on various advanced high speed fiber optics transceivers for datacom & telecom applications. Recently, he is conducting independent consulting service to fiber optics industry on high speed optical and electrical component products for optic communication beyond 100G.
